I always get fired up when I hear about a new shop opening in our area. Apricot Lane Boutique is one of the newest additions to north east Florida. With a new home in The Avenues, Apricot Lane Boutique is a nice addition to the variety of shops already there. Giveaway: Color in Motion 5K, Jacksonville

Training to run a race takes a lot of determination, self-motivation and hard work. Knowing that I have a race coming up is what makes me put my running shoes on and step outside. Well... that, cute workout gear, and dessert! ;)

Are you familiar with the Color in Motion run? The one I am giving away two tickets for is November 8th, in Jacksonville, Florida.

For the Color in Motion 5K you show up in white and leave a rainbow of colors. Runners throw the colored powder (dyed cornstarch that is totally biodegradable and safe) at each other and run through the brightly hued clouds. It's a fun 5K, you probably can't expect to beat a personal record doing this race but you will definitely have a good time!

I'm currently training for a 10K that is the week after the Color in Motion 5K, so I'm going to skip this one.

Fishing and a Healthier Fast Food with Chick-fil-A's new #GrilledLove

I've gotten my pink rod in the water a couple times already this year. The last time we went out it was a catch and release party, everything I caught (3 fish!) was too small to keep. Then that little shindig was followed by the worst boat ride EVER! The wind kicked up to 20 MPH, the water was white capping, we were getting soaked, and I was scared to death sitting in the back staring at a 5 to 6 foot wave behind the motor. Ugh! We will never be going out in the boat again without checking the hourly weather forecast not just looking at the radar for rain.

Another thing that is not to be forgotten for a boat ride is food and drinks. I always try to make sure I have at least packed some crackers or chips and waters for us. The best times are when we have a little picnic on the water though. Homemade sandwiches are good and all, but I'm going to try for Chick-fil-A for the next boat ride. Hopefully the waffle fries will make it to the boat and not all be eaten by the time we get to the boat ramp.

I was invited by a representative for Chick-fil-A to host a giveaway for some free sandwiches and try their new grilled chicken items. Yesterday I tried the Grilled Chicken Sandwich (320 calories) and yum. It actually has a charred taste and is served on a multi-grain bun, definitely a healthier alternative to their original Chicken Sandwich (440 calories) without the extra calories of being fried.

I'm not one to eat at fast food places, but Chick-fil-A is an exception I have always made. At most places my options are limited to nuggets or fries, sometimes fries is my only option. Hearing about all this new Grilled Love that Chick-fil-A is dishing out makes me happy.

They are also offering Grilled Nuggets, a Grilled Chicken Club, and a Grilled Market Salad. Check out the menu additions on the Chick-fil-A website.

Diamond Candles Review and A Giveaway!!

Last week I came home to an exciting package waiting for me on the porch. A box from Diamond Candles with my Blue Lagoon candle inside. I couldn't wait to open it up and see if it actually smelled like the Blue Lagoon, I was there in Jamaica just a few weeks ago for my wedding. :)

Although it did not have the same scent of the Jamaican beach, it looked great and smells fabulous. Very similar to the smell of a blue AirHead, yes the candy. It's a very nice sweet scent that took over my house in the best way possible.

Have you heard of Diamond Candles before? I had seen a couple people mention them on Facebook and became instantly interested. I got even more excited about them when they contacted me to review one and give one away! Every Diamond Candle has a ring inside it valued between $10 and $5,000. How cool!? I got this clear and red ring, it's pretty big for my little fingers but who cares. I just pulled a ring out of my candle! This was as exciting as picking up grab bags with Grandma when I was younger. :) Little surprises are a lovely pick me up, this would be a great gift for any woman in your life.
